• The Institute of Modern Greek Studies (M. Triandaphyllidis Foundation) organized a presentation of the book
Η αρχαία ελληνική τέχνη και η ακτινοβολία της
[Ancient Greek art and its radiance]
by Professors M. Voutiras & A. Goulaki-Voutira,
that was held on May 15th, 2012, at 20:15,
at the Teloglion Foundation of Art.
Speakers: M. Tiverios, Member of the Academy of Athens, Professor at the A.U.Th.,
G. Papanastassiou, Assistant Professor at the A.U.Th., Director of the Institute of Modern Greek Studies,
and the writers of the book.
• The Institute of Modern Greek Studies organized a "Book Bazaar" from 9 to 11 May 2012, 10.00-15.00, at the University Campus. Recent as well as older publications of the Institute were offered at special prices.
• The Institute of Modern Greek Studies (M. Triandaphyllidis Foundation)
organized a lecture given by Professor Gene Lerner
(University of California, Santa Barbara),
one of the leading representatives of Conversation Analysis, entitled
“When Practice Does Not Make Perfect: On the Intervention of Entitlement, Obligation and Solidarity in the Selection of Next Speaker”, on Friday, May 11, 2012, at 12:00,
at the Amphitheatre of the New Wing, Faculty of Philosophy.
Professor Gene Lerner conducted a guided data analysis workshop entitled
“Body Trouble and its Remediation”.
The workshop took place on Tuesday, May 8, 2012, 17:00-20:00,
at the Library of the Department of Linguistics, Old Building of the Faculty of Philosophy, Room 309.
• The Institute of Modern Greek Studies presented the series "Archaiognosia and archaioglossia in Secondary Education" at the 10th Conference "The Language of Education and of Reforms".
The presentation by D. N. Maronitis & G. Papanastassiou took place at the Ceremony Hall of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, on March 30th, 2012, at 20:00.
• The Institute of Modern Greek Studies supported the 1st International Conference of Albanian-Greek Studies, Albanian-Greek Linguistic and Cultural Studies: Achievements and Perspectives, Tirana, 24-25 March 2012.
• The Philological Association of the Prefecture of Drama organized two discussions with members of the Institute of Modern Greek Studies on February 10th and on March 27th, 2012, at the School Library of the 1st Lyceum of Drama. Prof. G. Papanastassiou and Dr. V. Melikidou discussed with members of the Association about linguistic and educational issues and answered relevant questions.
• The Institute of Modern Greek Studies participated in the 21st Seminar for Teachers: «Europe: Society and Education», organized by the Greek Education Office at Brussels, on February 6th 2012, European Committee Building, 2 Van Maerlant str., Brussels.
• The Institute of Modern Greek Studies organized a "Christmas Book Bazaar of Education and Humanitarianism" from 14 to 21 December 2011, 10.00-15.00, at the University Campus. Recent as well as older publications of the Institute were offered at special prices. This was a charity event, as part of the proceeds will be used for the digitization of university textbooks for students with impaired vision.
• The 8th Conference «Hellenic Language and Terminology» of the Hellenic Society for Terminology (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Eugenides Foundation from 10 until 12 November 2011) was dedicated to M. Triandaphyllidis. Keynote speaker: G. Papanastassiou, Director of the Institute of Modern Greek Studies, «Manolis Triandaphyllidis, Xenilasia or isoteleia, one hundred years later».
• The Institute of Modern Greek Studies participated in the organization of the conference entitled «1976-2011: 35 years since the Language Reform», which was held at Dion, Pieria, from 4 until 6 November 2011.
• The Institute of Modern Greek Studies presented its research activities regarding the Greek language and linguistics at a symposium entitled «Greek Language and Linguistics. Introducing the linguistic work at the Institute of Modern Greek Studies (M. Triandaphyllidis Foundation)», which was held on 24 June 2011. The symposium was organized by the Institute of Greek and Latin Languages and Literatures, Department of Philosophy and Humanities, Freie Universität Berlin.
• The Institute of Modern Greek Studies participated in the 30th Book Festival of Thessaloniki, which was held at the promenade near the White Tower from 3 until 19 June 2011. As part of the «21st Intellectual May», the Institute organized an event entitled «Memorabilia from the life and work of Manolis Triandaphyllidis» on 7 June 2011, at 19.30. The event was hosted at the hall of the Public Library of Thessaloniki.
• The Contribution to the Book Award for 2010 was given by the «Diavazo» magazine to the Institute of Modern Greek Studies in a ceremony, which was held on 17 May 2011 at the Benaki Museum, Athens.
• The Institute of Modern Greek Studies participated in the 8th Thessaloniki International Bookfair, held from 5 until 8 May 2011, which was hosted on the Helexpo premises in Thessaloniki.
• The group «Thessaloniki Allios» (‘a Different Thessaloniki’) and the Institute of Modern Greek Studies co-organized an informal workshop dedicated to children entitled «Seeing Books Differently», as part of the 8th International Bookfair. The event was held on 3 May 2011 at the Navarino Square, Thessaloniki.
• The Philologists’ School counselor of the Pella County, Ms. Antonia Papadaki, and the Institute of Modern Greek Studies co-organized a «Spelling Workshop» on 1 February 2011, at the 2nd High School in Edessa, Macedonia.
• The Public Library of Edessa and the Philologists’ School counselor of the Pella County, Ms. Antonia Papadaki, co-organized a symposium entitled «Manolis Triandaphyllidis and the Institute of Modern Greek Studies». The symposium was held on 26 January 2011 at the «Megas Alexandros» hall in Edessa, Macedonia.
• The «Maria Lioudaki» Teachers Association of Primary Education, the Philological Association of the Lasithi County and «Poiitiki Speira» co-organized a symposium entitled «Manolis Triandaphyllidis, his Foundation and our spelling» on 27 November 2010, at Ierapetra, Crete.
• The Direct Archdiocesan District Office of Education, Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, organized a training seminar for New York teachers on 2 November 2010, at St. Demetrios Highschool, Astoria, New York, with the participation of representatives of the Institute of Modern Greek Studies.
• The Institute of Modern Greek Studies participated in the 29th Book Festival of Thessaloniki as well as in the activities of the «20th Intellectual May», held from 28 May until 13 June 2010, at the city promenade.
• The Institute of Modern Greek Studies participated in the 7th Thessaloniki International Bookfair, which was held from 22 until 25 April 2010, on the Helexpo premises in Thessaloniki.
• The Philologists’ Association and the Cultural Movement of the Rodopi County co-organized a symposium entitled «A Tribute to Manolis Triandaphyllidis (1883-1959) – 50 years since his death and to the Manolis Triandaphyllidis Foundation». The symposium was held on 20 January 2010, at the exhibition center of the Society of the People of Komotini, in Komotini, Thrace.
• The Institute of Modern Greek Studies organized a celebration to mark the 50th anniversary of the death of M. Triandaphyllidis and the foundation of the Institute. The event was entitled «Manolis Triandaphyllidis / Institute of Modern Greek Studies – 50 years of memory and history», and was held on 21st November 2009, at the Old Building Ceremony Hall, Faculty of Philosophy, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
