Tα ελληνικά είναι ένα… παιχνίδι. Βιβλίο μαθητή [Modern Greek is a... game. Student’s book]
F. Valsamaki et al.
This book is intended as a useful supplementary aid to the coursebooks used in the teaching of Modern Greek. It contains a wide range of exercises (gap filling, matching, true or false exercises, transformations, etc.), various activities, role-playing games, and a great many instructive language games. On the basis of the communicative approach adopted, the material is presented in a playful and pleasant fashion so that, on the one hand, it arouses students’ interest in an atmosphere of collaboration and cooperation, and, on the other, it serves the teaching purpose, namely, practice in the comprehension and production of written and spoken language. The book approaches the linguistic elements and functions covered through communicative circumstances taken from Greek reality, and does not overlook cultural elements necessary for a more profound understanding of the language. As the course unfolds, simpler and more common phenomena give way to more complicated ones, without, however, the accompanying exercises being classified in strict, airtight units.
The book’s four authors are teachers at the School of Modern Greek Language, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, with many years’ experience teaching Greek as a second/foreign language.
