Τα νέα ελληνικά για ξένους [Modern Greek for learners]
Teaching staff of the Modern Greek Language School of the A.U.Th.
The book was first published in 1973 to meet the needs of those teaching Modern Greek to foreign candidate students at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and since then, it has been reissued, substantially improved and revised, in thousands of copies. It still constitutes an essential textbook for the teaching of Modern Greek as a second/foreign language, not only at the university’s School of Modern Greek Language, but also at many universities and research institutes all over the world. The book’s popularity among teachers and students is mainly due to the fact that the book is the end result of the experience of its 14 authors, who, for more than 30 years, are exclusively involved in the teaching of Modern Greek. The book is intended for adult students of all levels. Its 38 modules include well-written texts, tables of grammatical and syntactic phenomena, exercises and individual glossaries of idioms-expressions.
The book also contains a complete glossary translated into English and Russian. The book’s 14 authors have taught Modern Greek as a second/foreign language for years at the School of Modern Greek Language, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
