Η αρχαία ελληνική τέχνη και η ακτινοβολία της [Ancient Greek art and its influence]
M. Voutiras & A. Goulaki-Voutira
The first part of the book, written by M. Voutiras, is by definition archaeological in nature, and is entitled ‘Ancient Greek art’. In its eight chapters it clearly and sufficiently covers the whole spectrum of the history of Greek art, from the Dark Ages and the Geometric period to the late Hellenistic period.
The second part, rare and unpredictable in similar cases, owes a lot to the knowledge and labor of A. Goulaki-Voutira, who investigates those basic elements that bear witness to the fertile and evolving influence of Ancient Greek art in modern times, from early Renaissance to the end of the 20th century.
Ample illustration follows the meticulous unfolding of the successive stages of the extremely interesting historical journey of Ancient Greek art and its influence as well as its contact with the art of other peoples.
The book’s authors are professors at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
