Αλληλογραφία: Επιστολές λογίων του 20ού αιώνα [Correspondence: Letters of 20th century scholars]

The book presents a collection of letters by authors, scientists and other scholars, which were written between 1924 and 2002 and belong to the rich epistolary archive of Emm. Kriaras. The book aims to contribute to research and, more generally, to readers’ familiarization with diverse events of the past. The letters are listed alphabetically, according to the last name of the correspondents. Sufficient commentary is offered so that readers are provided with basic chronological or other information about each correspondent, even about individuals referred to in the texts. The volume also includes full indices per author, year, recipient, and dispatch location.

The author was professor at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, a correspondent member of the Athens Academy of Letters, and was honored with numerous medals and awards both in Greece and abroad. He had been appointed by Manolis Triandaphyllidis himself as one of the members of the first Board of Directors of the Institute of Modern Greek Studies, and served as General Secretary from 1959 to 1968, when the military regime dismissed him from the university due to his democratic beliefs.
