The penultimate volume of the nine-volume series entitled The Cambridge History of Literary Criticism, which provides a comprehensive historical account of Western literary criticism, discusses 20th century theories of literature. The book covers a variety of schools of thought, ranging from the theoretical reflections of Russian formalism and the structuralist legacy it bequeathed to modern literary studies to the poststructuralist turn towards the reader.
