15th International Book Fair of Thessaloniki

The Institute of Modern Greek Studies participated in the 15th International Book Fair of Thessaloniki, hold from May 3rd to May 6th, 2018, at the Helexpo Exhibition Center (Pavilion 13, stand 82). The 15th Book Fair was dedicated, among others, to the (countries of the) Francophonie.

The Institute also holded three parallel events:

On Saturday, May 5th, 11.00-12.00, at the Pavilion 13 ("Aris Alexandrou" Hall), a presentation of the 12 books of the Series "Older texts of Modern Greek Literature". Speakers:

  • G. Kechagioglou, professor emeritus at the A.U.Th., member of the Board of Directors of the Institute and editor of the Series, and
  • S. Stavrakopoulou, associate professor of Modern Greek Literature at the A.U.Th. and author of two books of the Series.

On Saturday, May 5th, 13.00-14.00, at the Pavilion 13 ("Aris Alexandrou" Hall), an event in honor of  Christos Tsolakis entitled "Christos Tsolakis: teacher, philologist, pedagogue". Speakers:

  • G. Atzakas, writer,
  • P. Doikos, associate professor of Philosophy at the A.U.Th.,
  • G. Mylopoulos, professor and ex-rector of the A.U.Th., and
  • K. Kilessopoulou, President of the Association "The Philologist".
  • Coordinator: G. Papanastassiou, director of the Institute.

Finally, on Saturday, May 5th, 18.00-19.00, at the Pavilion 13 (Literary Cafe), a presentation of the book D. Koutsogiannis, "Γλωσσική διδασκαλία: χθες, σήμερα, αύριο [Language teaching: yesterday, today, tomorrow]". Speakers:

  • E. Boutouloussi, professor of Applied Linguistics at the A.U.Th.,
  • A. Stamou, associate professor of Applied Linguistics at the A.U.Th.,
  • E. Zanga, School Councellor of Philologists, and
  • the author.
  • Coordinator: G. Papanastassiou, director of the Institute.
