1st Multilingualism Festival by the Municipality of Thessaloniki

The Institute of Modern Greek Studies participated in the 1st Multilingualism Festival, which was organized by the Municipality of Thessaloniki and was held from June 7th to June 9th, 2013, at the City Town Hall.

More specifically, the Institute organized the event entitled "Modern Greek Grammar translated into 14 languages", during which participants were asked to identify the target language of every one of the 14 translations of M. Triandaphyllidis’ Concise Modern Greek Grammar based on their cover. The event was held on Friday, June 7th, 18.30-19.00.

Moreover, at the symposium entitled "The Greek language and Multilingualism: Issues of social cohesion", which was held at the Town Council Conference Hall on Saturday, June 8th, 17:00-21.00, the Institute's director, G. Papanastassiou, gave a speech on "The words’ travels from Greek to other languages and vice versa".
