9th Thessaloniki International Bookfair

The Institute of Modern Greek Studies participated in the 9th Thessaloniki International Bookfair, from 24 until 27 May 2012, hosted on the Helexpo premises in Thessaloniki, pavilion 13, stand 45.

At the same time, the Institute participated in the Thessaloniki International Book Fair with the following events:

1. An exhibition featuring maps, posters, war journals, letters and photographs from the war front (selected from the Institute's Archive), which was part of the theme exhibition "A tribute to Thessaloniki. Focus: 100 years since its liberation". The exhibition remained open throughout the duration of the International Book Fair, and was held at Pavilion 13, in the theme exhibition venue.

2. Moments from the fronts of the Balkan Wars, selected from unpublished journals in M. Triandaphyllidis' archive (narrators: P. Andreou, A. Loudi, G. Papanastassiou). The event was held on Thursday, May 24th, 2012 (18:00-19:00) at Pavilion 13, in the theme exhibition venue.

3. A speech by G. Papanastassiou, Director of the Institute of Modern Greek Studies, entitled "The language situation in Macedonia at the time of liberation". The speech was delivered on Friday, May 25th, 2012 (17:00-18:00), in Pavilion 13, in the theme exhibition venue.
